Family Faith Former Corner -
Welcome to the dog days of summer!!! It’s hot out there and August is one of the longest months!!! One of the coolest and most refreshing treats is a fruity popsicle on a hot day!!! So, with that spirit our Family Faith Formation idea for you this month is a Popsicle Prayer Jar. It’s super simple and can be used in a million different ways. The can be as simple as you’d like or as fancy. All you really need are some popsicle sticks, a marker or pen, and a cup or jar.
With the new school year approaching, our suggestion is to think of people at school to pray for. Maybe you know their names specifically like a special teacher or coach. Or maybe they are someone you don’t happen to know their name yet like one of the cafeteria ladies, a custodian, or someone who works in the front office. You can write their name or position on a popsicle stick and then place it in your jar/cup. Try to think of 31 people and pray for a different person each day. You can also do something similar by having a parent print you out a calendar template they can find by googling and you could write a name in each square. Or another prayer idea would be to have an adult buy you a little sketch or drawing pad. Each day as you think or pray about someone special draw/write/doodle something for them and then deliver it to them and tell them you prayed a special prayer for them.
Some researchers think it only takes 21 days to
form a new habit, others say 66. They
beauty is whether you try this practice for a month or continue it for a couple
months, I think you will be blessed and I know you will bless others!!!
