It seems like everyday we hear of friends or loved-ones who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's or some form of dementia. Whether you are just beginning down this road or have been a caregiver for years, you might feel lonely, overwhelmed, exhausted, and/or all sorts of other things. One thing that we know is we are not created to bare this or any load alone. We were created for community!
We are so excited to be able to offer an Alzheimer's & Dementia Support Group!
We gather from 10:30am-12:00pm on the Second Thursday of the month in our Connection Center.
We know that care for your care-receiver is sometimes a barrier of you being able to get out and about or attend a support group. We’d love to try to eliminate that barrier for you. If you need care for your care-receiver, please let us know by the Monday of that week (2nd Monday of the month) by calling the church office 830.935.2171 or emailing Pastor Bethany. (firstname.lastname@example.org) In order to best care for your loved one we ask you to fill out a brief questionnaire. (Here's a link so you can see it beforehand.)
We are super grateful for Iris Bowden of Our Place Memory Cafe! Each month she brings 40+ years of experience and wisdom and is a great source of encouragement, and compassion for our caregivers.
If you have any questions or to let us know you are coming,
please give us a call: 830.935.2171 or email Pastor Bethany
(We realize that a daytime support group may not work for you. First UMC New Braunfels hosts a support group on 1st Thursdays at 6:30pm. And several of the nursing homes and care facilities in New Braunfels and surrounding areas provide support groups at different times. We hope you’ll find a group to support you in this challenging but holy season.)
